Zenkoji Bhuddist Temple Rejects Olympic Torch

Things just aren’t getting any better for the embattled Olympic torch; London was a disaster and San Fransisco just about happened. Now it turns out that the Zenkoji temple in Nagano, Japan has withdrawn as a host of the torch. This is getting more and more farcical with every passing day! And yes, I did mean to tag this as politics because that is exactly what it is right now.

Worldwide food shortages could spark violence

Further to our previous post about the reality of food shortages in the world today, the Guardian reports that these shortages may result in civil unrest and political instability. I’m still trying to understand why European farmers are being subsidised to create massive food surpluses which are stored and not used. Surely any surpluses could be put to better use, ie. feeding people with no food?
